There is no better match for rekordbox software than the Pioneer DDJ-RZ. Its creation is the result of wanting to make a physical interface that closely mirrors that of the program on the screen. It is as at home in a professional club environment as it is in your bedroom. You can prepare your sets perfectly and then hit the road knowing that your setlist is your own. Key features include intelligent design, fantastic software compatibility, big jog-wheels, performance pads and oscillator FX. To order an RZ for yourself, head over to

Pioneer DDJ-RZ: Four-Channel Flagship rekordbox Controller
With a plethora of options in the
Pioneer DDJ range, the RZ holds its place as the 'flagship' controller. This is in part due to it's 'space is no object' approach to making sure the interface matches the software exactly.
The Interface
The Graphic User Interface (GUI) of the included program works fantastically with the RZ. This gives you full control over your hot cues, samples, slicer and FX. As this unit is a result of creating a unit for one purpose, there are no sacrifices made. No Serato, no USB; just rekordbox. Due to the hefty size of the unit, there are plenty of controls at your fingertips so you don't have to faff about in menus and settings.
Large Jogs
Jog wheel size is a much-debated topic amongst controller DJs. Even the new Numark DJ2GO Touch has capacitive jogs and that thing is the smallest DJ controller I've laid eyes on. The RZ, though, is a different story. The jogs on this controller are large and are built to be scratched with. What's more, jog adjust allows you to customise the platter resistance to your heart's content. The centre of the jogs features a screen with a countdown and cue point marker as found on the top end CDJ's.
Performance Pads
As found on all new Pioneer controllers, each deck has it's own performance pads. Eight pads grace each side of the controller, providing a chance to trigger your personalised hot cues and samples. The rubber material ensures that they withstand the regular pressure and velocity that is placed on them. If you plan your sets accordingly, these pads greatly improve the creative workflow of your set. It is worth trying to use them even if you are not inclined to, as you will realise how much it livens up your set!
Osc Sampler
A new introduction on the DDJ-RZ is the Osc Sampler. This is a modulated audio trigger of four presets; Siren, Noise, Horn and Sine.
Other Features
The built-in feature gives you the opportunity to record your loops and play them back. Transitions are also very simple as the RZ has two USB soundcards for simultaneous DJs. Other included bonuses are slip mode, heavy-duty faders, needle strip and six inputs. The audio quality is sonically superb due to the quality DAC, so there is no problem when connecting to a full club PA system!
