Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT: Serato Users Rejoice
Pioneer DJ have answered the prayers of the Serato community with their latest addition to the DJ controller market; the DDJ-1000SRT.
The DDJ-1000SRT has four channels and is a designated
Serato controller, created with Pioneer's legendary 'club-standard' layout in mind. Much like its rekordbox counterpart, the 1000 incorporates sixteen back-lit performance pads within a unit big enough to withstand two full-size jog wheels.
Professional Level Features
The combination of two full-size jog wheels and the Magvel fader really make this
controller stand out. The familiar 'Jog Adjust' is present, so it is up to you how much force the jogs give back when rotated.
The Magvel fader can deal with a substantial amount of movements (more than 10 million). The scratch-happy DJ's amongst you will have no problem utilising this unit in your setup!
Serato in the Spotlight
Designed for Serato DJ Pro, this incarnation of the 1000 integrates seamlessly using a colour display built into the jog wheels. The display shows all the important details, like beats per minute, active deck and timings. By giving you information on the jog wheels, the decks stop you being fixed to your laptop screen, putting your performance at the forefront.
FX to Match the Pro's
Straight from Pioneers legendary DJM mixers comes the trusted family of FX options; Noise, Echo, Filter and Pitch. The fourteen 'Beat FX' are also present, with a screen specifically added so you can see exactly how these effects are functioning. If you are accustomed to the CDJ-DJM setups, you will instantly feel at home. If you are new to CDJ-DJM arrangments then fear not, as it is a tried and trusted approach to adding that little bit extra to your DJ sets. This unit does not allow you to control Serato's FX, but with Pioneer's acclaimed FX instead this is not a bad thing. The hardware FX are still present when recording though Serato though, which is a massive bonus.
Plenty of Connections
Amongst the numerous features within the 1000, is the ability to connect external units such as CDJ's or Turntables. With a total of four available analog inputs, you have the opportunity to easily transform this controller into a standalone DJ mixer.
The outputs can be connected straight into any active speaker or PA setup. You get two masters, a booth output and also two microphone inputs. The connectivity onboard this controller brings the technology of Pioneer's NXS2 equipment into a more portable territory, but still maintains a reassuringly professional feel.
Loads to Offer
The sixteen pads on the 1000 are backlit and made of rubber. Triggering Hot Cues and playing samples has never been this easy. Now that the 1000 has a Serato DJ Pro compatible model, you can experiment with the software's key related technology. The key of your tracks can be changed to allow for seamless transitions, whilst retaining the all important sonic quality.
It could not be simpler to set up this unit with Serato. Upon connecting the controller to your PC or Mac, Serato DJ Pro is available straght away, without the need for a licence key, so the initial installation is simple, and easy.
